Updated 23 October 2026 · By the Fixgent team

Short answer

Most small plumbing jobs in Nigeria cost ₦5,000 to ₦25,000 in labour in 2026: a leaking tap or pipe is about ₦5,000–₦25,000, a blocked toilet or drain ₦7,000–₦25,000, and a toilet repair ₦8,000–₦30,000. Materials (pipes, taps, cisterns) are usually extra, and night or emergency call-outs cost more.

What is usually not in the quote

Most quotes are for labour only. Pipes, fittings, taps, cisterns, pumps and water heaters are bought separately, either by you or by the plumber with receipts. Agree which before the job starts, and whether the plumber's transport to buy parts is included.

What changes the price

  • Access. Pipes inside walls, under tiles or in the ceiling take far longer to reach and repair.
  • Urgency. Night, weekend and emergency jobs usually carry a premium.
  • City. Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt are generally priced higher than smaller cities.
  • Repeat problems. A blockage that keeps coming back often points to the soakaway or main line, which is a bigger job.

Before the plumber arrives

  • Find and close the main stopcock if water is leaking.
  • Take a photo or short video of the problem; it helps the plumber bring the right parts.
  • Ask for two or three prices for anything larger than a small repair.
